Basstion ist eigentlich eine 4-köpfige Drum & Bass Crew aus Stuttgart. Mittlerweile jedoch hat es zwei von uns nach Berlin verschlagen, einer lebt in Leipzig und einer in Stuttgart.

Anfangs war dieses Projekt mehr ein D&B Onlinemagazin. Doch da unsere eigenen Aktivitäten als DJs und Veranstalter stetig zunahmen, stellt sich Basstion heute als Crew-Projekt dar.

Wir organisieren Partys in Berlin, Leipzig und Stuttgart, und unser in Stuttgart verbliebenes Crewmitglied Reveal hostete bis Mitte 2007 eine wöchentliche Radiosendung beim Freien Radio für Stuttgart.

2006 sind zwei neue DJs zu uns gestoßen: Rambun, vormals bei der Crew Adrenalinjunkies, unterstützt den Stuttgarter Part der Basstion und ist schon seit geraumer Zeit Gast-DJ in unserer Stuttgarter Radiosendung. Jay aus Leipzig rief 2005 zusammen mit Inju in Leipzig die Mothersfinest Crew ins Leben und ist nun auch fester Bestandteil von Basstion.

Mitte 2007 haben wir auch Deen zu uns ins Boot geholt. Deen war schon lange Zeit fast jede Woche in der Basstion Radiosendung als Gast-DJ zu hören und soll nun neben Rambun den Stuttgarter Part der Crew stärken.

Die Website bietet allerdings noch einige Elemente eines Onlinemagazines, wie einen Eventkalender, Verlosungsaktionen und in naher Zukunft Reviews und Plattenkritiken.

Der Name "Basstion" ist ein Wortspiel und bezieht sich auf das frz.-lat.-stämmige Wort "Bastion" = Festung / Bollwerk.

Entstanden ist der Crewname "Basstion" 2000, als wir noch alle in Stuttgart waren und uns darüber ärgerten, dass viele ansässige D&B-DJs plötzlich im allgemeinen 2-Step/Garage-Hype die D&B-Platten beiseite legten und auf den Hype aufsprangen.
Da wir alle mit 2-Step nichts anfangen konnten und wir in unserer Radiosendung ausschließlich D&B spielten, fiel irgendwann der Satz "...wir sind eben die letzte Bastion [des Drum & Bass]".
Um ein "s" ergänzt, hatten wir von da an einen neuen Crewnamen.

Basstion Drum&Bass Crew are originally from Stuttgart in South Germany and were founded by the DJs Stranger, Flare 5 and Inju in 2000.

Basstion as a crew arose from two projects the friends did:
Stranger had created an online drum&bass magazine for South Germany with events and reviews about the drum & bass scene.
Inju had a radio project at a local radio station. Since 1999 already they hosted this D&B radio show together.

This show spreaded the D&B vibe more than 7 years now - every tuesday night from 10-00 pm!
The radio show was hosted by DJ Reveal who joined the crew some month later after the foundation in 2000.

At the end of 2001 Flare 5 and Stranger moved to Berlin while Inju went to Leipzig in the Eastern part of Germany to study.

Ever since, they tried to organize parties together or to play out together either in Leipzig, Berlin or Stuttgart or in any other city they have been booked till then.

To backup the team, two other DJs joined the crew in 2006: Jay who comes from Leipzig and Rambun who is a well known young DJ talent from Stuttgart.

In 2007 another DJ joined the crew: DJ Deen from the Stuttgart area was a regular guest-dj in our radioshow and is now a full member.

In June 2007 we sadly had to give up the terrestrial radio show since our working lives and the show-schedule just didn't fit together anymore... A new show via online radio station www.dnbradio.net will be established and our current plan is to host a show every two weeks.

"Basstion" is a wordplay and originates from the french-latin word "Bastion" (stronghold, bastion).
